Kyle Palmieri FOUNDATION to Launch ROGER New York - A Free Online Resource Hub Connecting Veterans to Needed Support
Long Island, NY - The Kyle Palmieri Foundation is launching ROGER New York, a free online resource hub that connects veterans and their families to verified, up-to-date programs and services in New York. Veterans will be able to find personalized results by entering qualifying information, such as income, branch of service, residency, and more.
One and a half million U.S. veterans are at risk of homelessness, often due to a lack of early access to benefits, housing, and mental health support. While over 45,000 veteran service organizations exist nationwide, many veterans don’t know where to start or how to qualify for services. Additionally, many of the case managers and social workers that veterans turn to in crisis also struggle to navigate fragmented systems and outdated directories. ROGER helps bridge this access gap by centralizing government and nonprofit services into a single, user-friendly platform. Veterans in New York will soon be able to quickly locate the benefits and services they need.
ROGER currently operates in New Jersey (ROGER.vet) and has made a measurable impact on veterans in the state. In 2024, it served nearly 11,000 veterans and caseworkers and generated nearly 38,000 resource views. The Kyle Palmieri Foundation is now working with Backpacks for Life, ROGER’s founders, to expand ROGER for our heroes in New York.
“The challenges of military service don’t end when duty does,” said Kyle Palmieri, New York Islanders forward and founder of the Kyle Palmieri Foundation. “Veterans often face new battles when they return home, including navigating healthcare systems, securing employment, and managing the invisible wounds of war. The challenge isn’t always a lack of support available. The challenge comes from finding and accessing that support, which is where ROGER comes in. We hope to remove that obstacle and make sure veterans are able to find the support they need, quickly.”
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with The Kyle Palmieri Foundation to bring ROGER to the New York veteran community,” said Alexa D’Alesandro, Executive Director of Backpacks For Life. “As longtime supporters of our mission, it was a natural fit to continue supporting more veterans with the help of Kyle and his team. Veterans continue to face uphill battles, receiving fragmented support in their most critical moments. Our goal is to help veterans before they find themselves at-risk of financial instability, homelessness, or other challenges after serving our country. We look forward to expanding our reach and serving more veterans with ROGER New York.”
ROGER is currently available to veterans in New Jersey at roger.vet. It will be available to veterans on Long Island in the summer of 2026, and will be rolled out to veterans across New York State throughout 2027.
